  • Module 1 (Theory and Hazard perception test)

  • Module 4 (Driver CPC Practical test )

For non commercial driving

For existing LGV drivers who already hold a full LGV licence (C1, C or C+E) and wish to continue to drive commercially ie for a living

  • Complete 35 hrs periodic training every 5 years

This means that you must have completed 35hrs training between 10th September 2009 and 9th September 2014 and hold a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) to prove it. DQC are issued by DVLA free of charge and sent to your licence address - you will need to have this in your possession when driving commercially.

This training can be conducted at stages over the 5 yr period subject to certain minimum time requirements. There is NO pass or fail element to this training - just a requirement to undertake the training. Training can only be given by approved training organisations. The same training is given to all holders of LGV /PCV licences so if you hold a LGV and PCV licence the same 35hrs training covers both of these.

If you intend to drive a LGV vehicle for non commercial reasons - eg your own horse box - road testing - technical development then you will need to complete modules 1 and 3 only.
